Starting to see my own country different....as more interesting.
I'm making plans to be a tourist in my own country. Stay the traveler while not traveling. Sounds really good to me!!
That is why I visited Naarden Vesting last week, see my post about that visit here.
The weather is, well Dutch weather. Not sunny and dry all the time but I really enjoyed my visit.
Learning about the history of The Netherlands and its water. The use of the water for defense purpose, really interesting.
I learned a lot about the waterline that runs through Holland. Want to go cycling parts of that line too this year. See the landscape that has developed itself because of that waterline.
Now I've been searching the internet as a tourist about things you must visit in Holland. And I've made a list for myself to go visit this year or the next.... It's become a long list, longer than expected :)
Here is my list:
- Maastricht
* Vrijthof/Cityhall/Kazematten/Hells Gate/Bisschop Water Mill
- Amsterdam
* Begijnhof/De Jordaan
- Gouda
* St. Jans Church
- The Hague
* Peace Palace
- The famous Windmills Kinderdijk
- To see the old way of living/dressing: Volendam/Marken
- Fort Bourtange
- Castle Loevestein
- Castle Hoensbroek
- Hunebed centre
- Castle Keukenhof
- Delta works
- Giethoorn, The Dutch Venice
- Rotterdam
* Delfshaven
Ofcourse there are lots of others things to see in this small country. But once in the cities listed here you'll find your way to other Dutch sightings and museums.
